Reader Response: When you have to shoot first
I myself am a person who rarely ever resorts to violence and would certainly second guess myself if I was ever in the position to have to kill somone. After reading this, I agree with the author that in both situations, there was no time for the shooters to think and that they did exactly what needed to be done. Im not a fan of war or anything that really goes along with it but I very much respect what our troops are doing. I feel that it takes a very strong willed and extremely tough mind set to do what these people do.

Reader Response: Armys war game recruits kids.
When an adult turns into a parent, there number one priority is to care for their child in anyway necessary and raise them how they feel is right, hopefully as respectful and caring human beings. So why parents seem to be getting so upset about the Armys free video game "Americas Army", which is intended to turn children 13-21 to want to sign up for the army, I feel is rediculous. You as a parent have the authority so if you are upset at the Army for this video game, dont be, be mad at yourself for allowing your kids to play this game and take some responsibility.
I personally have no problem with the Army publicizing itself through this video game. If kids want to play the video game and in turn they want to join the Army, then the game has done what it was intended to do and more power to the Army. Being someone that never played video games at my own house growing up, I dont think I would be influenced by a video game to do anything, other than sports games. I feel that parents are looking at the easy way out and blame the Army for their kids playing these games when they should just not allow it and thus eliminate the whole problem. Parents are getting lazy and allowing there kids to stay inside and play video games which is probably the leading cause to having our country be a very obese country. Take some repsonsibilities parents, or dont have kids.

Reader Response: The Butterfly Effect and the Enviornment: How tiny actions can save the world.
In this article, Brian Clark discusses the importance of the animal, the butterfly. While reading this, I found out many new things about this creature that I knew next to nothing about before. It explains how the butterfly effect is a term that has leaked into popular culture because of time-travel stories, but whats its actual meaning refers to the sensitive dependence on initial conditions to chaos theory.
The butterflies that most of us know as being beautiful creatures that fly around aimlessly really do effect our world more than most of us would think. A particular point of emphasis with talking about butterflies importance is biodiversity; biodiversity itself protects us, humans from effects of agricultural catastrophes like the Irish Potato Famine, the loss of species results in significant changes in natural habitats that can hurt us badly down the road. As we all know the enviornment is not getting any better anytime soon, these butterfly effect is similar to that fact that tiny changes we make will indeed make a difference. Some possible ways that the article suggests is: cut out bottled water, use compact flurrescent light bulbs, buy a new monitor for your computer rather than upgrading a more less enviornment friendly lap top. This article really put alot of things into perspective about changes that need to be made to better our world, I hope everyone can go out and do there part.

Reader Response: DNA Gives Students Ethnic Shocks
Black, asian, white, european, whats the "in" race these days? Well after reading this article there is no clear answer but what was is definitely in, being multiracial. Students interviewed in this article expressed that after a childhood and beginning to adulthood, that enough was enough and it was time to finally find out just what their racial background was. I found it very interesting to find out that students were so curious about this topic and truly wanted to find out there ethnicity. Me being someone who never really even thought about this topic too much, I never thought it would be too much fun finding out what my family background exactly was. But after reading this I now am very intrigued to see what exact races I actually am.

Readers Response: Your Gamete, Myself
After reading this article, I feel that I learned alot about the whole "doning" process, where a woman uses anothers eggs with their husband/ significant others sperm to create a child. I honestly had no idea about the facts and numbers it gave detailing just how many woman do this yearly along with the number of families that adopt or attempt to adopt. When Marie was talking about how Becky consulted with her to talk about the situation, it really brought alot of emotion to the article. I think that Marie had alot of good points that she was talking about throughout such as I do agree that children will probably eventually end up realizing that there birth mother is probably not there mother that has been raising them there entire lives. When Catherine's family went to see her birth mother, I also agree with Marie that it should definitely be her choice whether or not she wants to see pictures and such. At the end of the article I was very happy to hear that Becky and her husband were able to have children of their own and it was a very uplifting way to end the article.

Reader Response to: "Facebook: Why I love it/ hate it?"
Before reading either one of these articles, I felt like that I would already have a fairly good idea on what both writers were going to have to say. Being that I am in my third of college, I am most certainly no stranger to "Facebook." I felt that it was even more appropriate to comment on these two articles because I am definitely a person who have there share of ups and downs with this cyber profile of our every move. I felt like I could easily relate to writer of "Why I love it..." because I definitely felt all those same feelings coming out of high school. I mean, it was so exciting having so many friend requests and having the chance to have all these photos posted of you and your closest friends. Countless hours could be spent rather wasted just going through all your different friends profiles and pictures. Maybe its someone who you havent spoken to in some amount of time, well looking at there facebook page for 5 minutes, you could probably find out everything they have done in the past two weeks, pictures included. That leads me to completely understanding the view of the writer for the "Why I hate it...." piece, it has the possibility to take over young kids lives. When they should be studying, working, or just having fun socializing, students find themselves crowding over there computers trying to be as up to date as possible. I think both writers had good articles and enjoyed reading them both.
